Brief history

The Tema Technical Institute was established in 1964 as a Training Centre for the Textile Industry. In 1974 new courses, Tailoring and Photography were introduced and the name changed to the present one. In 1986 more courses in Engineering were added. Printing, Carpentry and Joinery courses were also added. Blocklaying and Concreting course also started in 1997. In 2005, Diploma in Business studies (Accounting) started whilst Motor Vehicle, Mechanics begun in the year 2006. Plumbing was established in 2008 and the latest to be added to courses run is Catering.

This brings the number to fourteen (14) courses run in the Institute. Short courses for workers in the formal and the informal sectors are offered.

To be one of the best Technical Training Institutions in Ghana and beyond, relying on a well motivated and committed trainers, using appropriate technology with the view of meeting needs of industry and self-employment.
