NATIONAL PROFICIENCY 1 – 1ST COHORT ASSESSMENT

Following three years preparation in designing and establishing the Modernized Apprenticeship Training, the first cohort of apprentices participated in the National Proficiency 1 assessment at the end of November 2015. This is setting the tone for providing structured training within the traditional apprenticeship in the informal sector and obtaining a recognized national certification.

Companies in the garment industry in Ghana specialize in kaba (traditional dress) and kaftan, wedding dresses, shroud garments, office apparel, uniforms and suits.

The size of the company is defined by the type of equipment available and the number of apprentices it has. Most enterprises are small-scale, some are medium sized, very few can be categorized as large.

ELECTRONICS

Electronics

Most of the SMEs in the electronics sector have specialized on service and repair of selected appliances or gadgets. Only a few enterprises offer a wider range of services to their customers on a lower level.

AUTOMOTIVE

Most of the SMEs in the automotive sector have specialized on service and repair of passenger cars, commercial vehicles, agricultural equipment and motor cycles. Only a few enterprises offer a wider range of services to their customers on a lower level or due to the absence of a reasonable volume of business in their core competency.
