GSDI supported the development of five CBT programs including Generics on Proficiency level. With regard to the upcoming assessment of the piloted cooperative apprenticeship training, GSDI in cooperation with COTVET has organized a 2-days workshop from July 17th to July 18th 2015 at GSDI Office in Accra. The training aimed at building the capacity of the staff of the GES-TEU (Technical Exams Unit) as an Awarding Body on COTVET’s quality assurance process of assessment and certification with focus on:
- demonstrate knowledge of the CBT Concept
- use COTVET CBT assessment instrument & marking guidelines format
- use COTVET External Verification forms
- identify cost elements of CBT assessment & certification
- agree on the coding of CBT learners & all documents
The workshop participants were made aware of the importance of the assessment instruments and the marking guidelines and were taken through various CBT assessment approaches as ‘observation’, ‘product evaluation’ and ‘questioning’. The facilitator grouped the participants according to their various trade areas and they could put their training into practice.
A team of COTVET representatives attended the 2-days training. It was an excellent opportunity for the participants from TEU to discuss with COTVET the assessment and certification issues and to agree on further network actitivies. Numerous recommendations were made with focus on more training support for the TEU by COTVET.
