FOLLOW-UP ENTREPRENEURSHIP WORKSHOP: GSDI TRAINS FACILITATORS

From the 7th to the 9th of July GSDI initiated a three days training on entrepreneurship in the GSDI office in Accra. The workshop was designed to follow-up with 13 selected Master Craftspersons on the previous Training of Trainers on ‘Basics of Entrepreneurship’. Cadmond Dadzie conducted the training in cooperation with Gladys Quarshie from the GSDI team. The training did not only aim to provide a deeper understanding of the basics of entrepreneurship, but it also had the objective to train the participants as facilitators in their respective Trade Association.

ENTREPRENEURSHIP WORKSHOP

On the first day, the Master Craftspersons reviewed the main concepts of entrepreneurship from the previous workshop, before they learnt more about various types and books of record keeping. The incorporation of practical examples from the different trades helped the Master Craftspersons to relate the practice of keeping records to their respective field of work. To internalize the lessons learnt they worked in teams on exercises and presented their results to the whole group later on.

The following day the training covered the topic of financial management but also put a strong emphasis on teaching methods and the presentation skills of the participants. Feedback on their presentations enabled the Master Craftspersons to improve their teaching style. In the future this will help them to conduct their own workshops on entrepreneurship.

On the last day of the training the Master Craftspersons worked on cash flow statements and improved their teaching skills in the final presentations of their exercise results.

Finally, the participants agreed on the development of action plans to conduct trainings on entrepreneurship in their Trade Associations. The plans should outline the dates for the first trainings.

Overall, the three days workshop by Cadmond Dadzie and Gladys Quarshie prepared the participants to become facilitators in their Trade Associations. The developed methods and skills enable them to teach the topic ‘Basics of Entrepreneurship’ in an interactive manner. However, the Master Craftspersons will need further coaching in their first individual workshop to become more confident and skilled in their role as a trainer.
