MCP TRAINING FOR AUTOMOTIVE MECHANICS

On Friday, 13th February 2015, the closing ceremony of a two weeks training program for MCP (Master Craftpersons) came to an end at NVTI Burma Camp in Accra and was officially closed. After participants (MCPs who are members of GNAG, Ghana National Association of Garages) expressed their gratitude, speeches including recommendations were given by representatives from several stakeholder groups. Mr. Fred Padi (regional chairman of GNAG) emphasized on the seriousness and significance of the training program and that the limited number of seats should be fully used.

Mr. Kwabena Amaniampong (COTVET coordinator for the informal sector) sent greetings from the Executive Director, Mr. Sebastian Deh, and mentioned the importance of health and safety, and that the informal TVET sector is gradually being formalized. Mrs. Jeanette Burmester (GSDI team leader), shared a music clip with the audience sending out the massage of encouraging the youth to learn a trade. She reminded the MCPs, that it is now the time to send their apprentices to the training program, which is applying the National Occupational Standards. An official assessment can be expected. Mrs. Gladys Quarshie (GSDI TA advisor) reminded the MCPs in her speech to use the given workplace guidelines and guarantee the quality of apprenticeship training in their various workplaces.
