BACKGROUND OF TAMALE VOCATIONAL TRAINING INSTITUTE

Tamale Vocational Training Institute was established by the Northern Regional Administration in 1974.

It was later absorbed by the Ministry of Employment and labour Relations and subsequently transferred to National Vocational Training Institute (NVTI) for Administrative purposes.

The rationale behind the establishment of Tamale Vocational Training Institute was to train the teeming youth within the region to acquire vocational skills to enable them fend for themselves to alleviate poverty and its associate social vices within the region. One of TVTI’s mandates was to underpin apprentices with theoretical knowledge through short courses to enhance their practical experiences in all trade areas.

Since the inception of TVTI till date, it has trained over three (3) thousand artisans who are gainfully employed throughout the country.

 

MISSION

TVTI exists to provide demand driven employable skills and enhance the income generating capacities of basic and secondary school leavers and such other persons (Informal Sector) through competency based Apprenticeship, Master craftsmanship, and career development.

 

VISION

TVTI will provide the best systems of employable TVET Skills to both Formal and the Informal Sector through long-term and short-term courses to enhance their experience and income generating capacities.

Trainees have the chance of undergoing one (1) year of On-the-job-training during the training period.

 

TVTI is located within the Industrial Area at Lamashegu a suburb of Tamale.
